Boris Johnson leads tributes as Prince Philip dies, aged 99. (PA) Boris Johnson has paid tribute to Prince Philip following his death at the age of 99. Speaking from Downing Street, the Prime Minister said: “He helped to steer the Royal Family and the monarchy so that it remains an institution indisputably vital to the balance and happiness of our national life.” Boris Johnson’s fiancee Carrie Symonds tweeted: “So very sad to hear of the passing of HRH, the Duke of Edinburgh. An incredible life devoted to the Queen, his family and our country. Thoughts and prayers with Her Majesty and the Royal Family.”

The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine is deeply saddened to learn of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
Prince Philip became LSHTM s patron in 1952 and made numerous visits to LSHTM, including during its centenary celebration in 1999. In more recent years, HRH hosted our closest supporters at Buckingham Palace.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson hailed Philip s extraordinary life and work, sending his condolences to Queen Elizabeth after he husband s death was announced.
