Archbishop Brown presents credentials to president to complete diplomatic arrival formalities
The new apostolic nuncio to the Philippines has presented his credentials to President Rodrigo Duterte.
Archbishop Charles Brown, 61, went to Duterte’s residence in Malacanan Palace in Manila on Dec. 14 to present his diplomatic papers.
He was following protocol for all new ambassadors and foreign dignitaries assigned to a country to present themselves to the head of state.

KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, December 11, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) – The signature of the Vatican’s liturgy chief is missing from a controversial letter signed by the secretary of the Vatican body that supervises worship and sacraments in the Church. The letter supports the decision of a U.S. bishop to ban reception of Holy Communion on the tongue in his diocese on account of the coronavirus outbreak.

New Apostolic Nuncio to the Philippines Charles John Brown conveyed the Pope’s message and mentioned the “excellent relations” between the Holy See and the Philippines during the presentation of his credentials to President Duterte in Malacañang.
The US-born archbishop arrived in Manila late last month to start his stint as head of the Holy See’s diplomatic mission to the Philippines.
“Mr. President, allow me to convey to you and to all the people of the Republic of the Philippines the very warm personal greetings of His Holiness Pope Francis,” the papal nuncio said while Duterte attended the Palace event via video conference from the Malago clubhouse.
