FARGO, N.D. - Irvin Schmitke, 84, Thief River Falls, Minn., died Saturday, Dec. 26, in Sanford Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. Visitation will continue from 9:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a funeral at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, at Free Lutheran Church of Roseau (Minn.). The Rev. Lyndon Korhonen will officiate. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Rindal Cemetery near Viking, Minn. Masks are required.

DULUTH, Minn. – Demand for free food in Duluth continues to be stronger than ever during this pandemic and holiday season. And the CHUM Food Shelf is working hard to make sure people don’t go hungry.
Since July, CHUM has been delivering pre-packaged boxes of food to people in need at Our Saviors Lutheran Church every Monday from 10 a.m. until noon.
People have been lining up every Monday in hopes of getting one of the 40 free food boxes.
CHUM also hands out free food boxes every Wednesday and Friday outside the Food Shelf on 1
st Avenue West across from the CHUM Drop-In Center.

Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Westby will once again present the community with a longtime Christmas gift â the annual live Nativity on Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, this yearâs live Nativity will be a drive-through event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Visitors are asked to turn on West State Street near Dregneâs Scandinavian Gifts and look for signs. If there is inclement weather, the event will be held New Yearâs Eve.
âFor years itâs been done indoors, but we couldnât do that (this year),â said Pastor John Dumke. âWe couldnât give it up.â
Of the variety of styles suited for male and female adults and children at the Nook & Cranny in Faribault is a tag from the quilters group describing the purpose of the quilts.
