In this week s Rewind, Robert Smith recalls a few of the details of an award s night banquet held 35 years ago in Kingston back in 1986. Gatherings such as this one have been held for many years to honour numerous individuals involved with racing at a certain track and usually associated with the local Turf Club. They weren t quite an equal to the modern day O Brien Awards nights but they were still special. Additionally a few older pictures taken at the Kingston track are displayed and will serve as this week s mystery photos.

The United States Congress has approved a $900 billion Covid-19 relief package that’s tethered to the government’s $2.3 trillion year-end funding plan. Of course, talks of Americans getting $600 checks have started to circulate online, but reports also include the discussions of unwarranted spending and unlimited pork funds.

As soon as mainstream media news outlets started reporting on the fact that the U.S. Congress has approved a $900 billion Covid-19 relief package, Americans started talking about the $600 check they may get. The commentary toward politicians was less than pleasant and on Twitter, the phrase commonly attributed to Marie Antoinette, “Let them eat cake” was trending during the last 24 hours.

In Germany, they have coffee and cake time every day. It’s a time to visit with each other. It’s structured and it’s a meaningful part of your day and not a blind noshing of sugar,” she told TODAY.

Early in the pandemic days, we shared a resource guide for everything you could need to continue to plan your Big Day while social distancing at home.
