Powerful storms took chunks out of some Jersey Shore beaches this winter, and one town has started a “sand back passing” project to restore a part of its shoreline.
Avalon’s Department of Public Works will move approximately 55,000 cubic yards of sand from an area south, called a borrow area, to north end beaches that were eroded during winter storm events, officials said.
