Jared Polis stopped by Northside Kitchen in Avon on Tuesday afternoon to sign a new bill into law that extends alcohol beverage takeout and delivery for the next four years in Colorado. “It’s been tough for small businesses and restaurants,” Polis said. “But we’re always looking to figure out what are those things that we did during the pandemic that worked and can create a new normal that’s better for small businesses, for consumers.” And one of these things, Polis said, was the ability for restaurants to deliver and have to-go alcohol. The practice of not allowing this he called “senseless and outdated.”

Avon passes ordinance to allow off-highway vehicles on Wildridge roads

Rocky Mountain Sport Riders/Special to the Daily Although the public remained passionately divided until the end, the Avon Town Council passed an ordinance Tuesday night allowing the use of off-highway vehicles on public roads in the Wildridge subdivision. The new ordinance will go into effect in 30 days. The decision came following months of discussion over the topic, including hundreds of public comments on both sides of the debate. The Town Council passed the ordinance on first reading, with a few amendments, earlier this month. Ultimately, the ordinance will legalize a practice that has been a core part of the subdivision’s culture for many of its residents.

This topic was first breached, and the ordinance initiated, at the April 13 Town Council meeting. Specifically, the ordinance designates all town roads and streets within Blocks 1 through 4 of the subdivision, beginning above the 2000 Block of Wildridge Road (south of the intersection of Wildridge Road and Old Trail Road).
