When I got to Zaria, I met a number of projects on ground; some were stalled due to lack of funds, and some were ongoing at slow pace due to paucity of funds, but with the support and assistance of the minister and the government, we got huge improvements in the funding and budget releases. Thus we were able to complete some of the projects, but for the heavy dollar-denominated ones, we were able to make significant progress.
We also had to look at ways to improve Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). We realised that most of the aviation personnel are in Lagos and reluctant to come to Zaria, so we introduced off-site courses in Lagos on part-time – in the evenings or on weekends. We also introduced additional courses in the flying school such as the Airline Transport Pilot License that had not been done in Nigeria
In contrast to the situation in Curaçao: Costa Rica back to FAA Category 1 again
WILLEMSTAD - Contrary to the situation in Curaçao, which has not returned to the so-called Category 1 after almost 9 years, Costa Rica has already been placed back in the highest category of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Costa Rica, as before Curaçao and a handful of other countries in the world, was reverted to the International Aviation Safety Assessment (IASA) Category 2 in May 2019. This means that the country in question does not have an effective overview of its aviation sector. Costa Rica has now been re-awarded Category 1 status after successful assessments during the year 2020 and a meeting between the FAA and the Costa Rican aviation authority in January this year.
MIAMI – Amaszonas Uruguay (UR), the flag carrier of the South American country, has suspended passenger operations.
Confirming the suspension of passenger services, the carrier announced that it will begin “a process of approach and negotiation with different actors.”
Amaszonas will have to deal with “the main suppliers, the reconfiguration and reduction of the workforce, optimization of the use and destination of the Embraer E190, and other strategic measures.”
Potential Reinvention
“Unfortunately, today the operation in Uruguay has become very complex and complicated,” said Sergio León, the general manager of UR before continuing “we will have to reinvent ourselves in other modes of transport and air work if these are possible.”

An experienced pilot who flew Chinese holidaymakers over flooding roads and closed bridges so they could make their international flight home allegedly breached Civil Aviation Authority rules, a court has been told.
The pilot is accused of not having the right paperwork after chartering a small aircraft to help out a Chinese tour guide, and get some tourists travelling in the South Island to Christchurch International Airport in time for their flight out of the country.
