April 21 (UPI) Boeing Co. announced the delivery of its second F-15EX fighter plane to the U.S. Air Force on Wednesday.
The plane, an enhanced version of an aircraft first flown in 1975 and designed to replace the aging F-15C/D variants, arrived at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla., for testing. It joined the first F-15EX, which was delivered to the base in March.
The MQ-9 is an unmanned aircraft with intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike capability, traditionally used for Counter-Violent Extremist Organization (C-VEO) combat operations. That mission is now shifting.
The MQ-9 is demonstrating that it is still a relevant platform as it supports new missions in United States European Command (EUCOM) and is now set to receive a suite of upgrades to allow the platform to offer a host of new capabilities for Combatant Commanders and warfighters around the world.
The Air Force will award the first delivery order of planned MQ-9 Multi-Domain Operation (M2DO) aircraft – which will include several new upgrades from previous production builds– to General Atomics Aeronautical Systems (GA-ASI) in April 2021. The first Northrop Grumman RQ-4B Global Hawk drone for the Japan Air Self-Defense Force has carried out its maiden flight.
On Apr. 15, 2021, the first RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) destined to the JASDF (Japan Air Self-Defense Force) successfully completed its first flight from Northrop Grumman plant at Palmdale, California.
