Speed up vaccinations in Ontario nursing homes, opposition urges

(Richard Lautens/Toronto Star) With the Ontario government promising to vaccinate everyone living and working in nursing homes in the province’s COVID-19 hot spots by mid-January, opposition parties say the governing Tories are still dragging their feet. On Tuesday, government officials said Ontario would be increasing throughout the month of January the number of sites where the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is delivered, and that the province expects to start receiving new shipments of both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the coming days and weeks. However, those officials couldn’t say when they expect all residents, staff, and essential family caregivers in long-term care homes to get the jab.
