Ski hill operators lobby for reopening during COVID-19 lockdown
The Ontario Snow Resorts Association has the support of tens of thousands of petitioners.

TORONTO The provincial association representing Alpine and Nordic ski facilities hopes for an early meeting with government officials will clear the way for the reopening of ski hills across Ontario.
The Ontario Snow Resorts Association (OSRA) was incensed when the government ordered ski hills to shut down as part of the COVID-19 lockdown that began on Dec. 26.
Families were out on Boxing Day trying to make the most of what they were allowed to do on the first day of the Ontario-wide COVID-19 lockdown, while weather-dependent businesses are hoping not to be left out in the cold for long.

Ontario announced on Monday that as of Boxing Day, the southern part of the province will enter a 28-day lockdown, while northern Ontario s lockdown will last 14 days. The new rules include restrictions on businesses and gatherings, as well as shutting down some outdoor activities such as downhill skiing. Parks, skating rinks and cross-country ski and snowshoe trails across Ontario will remain open. (Rafferty Baker/CBC)
