Saskatchewan is making AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine available to more people.
The Ministry of Health announced Tuesday it was lowering the age restriction on the vaccine to 40 years old from 55. The governments of Alberta, B.C., Manitoba and Ontario already have made that move.
However, the Saskatchewan government said there are currently fewer than 15,000 doses of the vaccine in the province and fewer than 9,000 are available to the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The rest have already been allocated to be administered.
On Feb. 26, Health Canada approved AstraZeneca for use on everyone aged 18 and over, but the National Advisory Committee on Immunization recommended March 29 that the vaccine should only be given to people 55 and over due to concerns over blood clots.
Shoppers pharmacies begin offering 24/7 COVID-19 vaccines today

Ontario and Shoppers Drug Mart announced on Tuesday that the company’s pharmacies will start offering 24-7 COVID-19 vaccinations for people over the age of 40.
Twenty locations, including 16 in the hot spot communities of Toronto, Peel Region and York Region, will start offering the AstraZeneca shot as soon as Wednesday.
Participating Shoppers Drug Mart pharmacies offering jabs 24 hours a day, seven days a week include:

Brampton – 160 Main Street South
Brampton – 49 Mountainash Road
Brampton – 25 Great Lakes Drive

Only one day after Ontario expanded its COVID-19 vaccine rollout in pharmacies to people age 40 and older, those looking for a dose in Windsor-Essex might as well be searching for a needle in a haystack.
The Windsor Star called all 57 participating area pharmacies to see who had doses of the AstraZeneca jab available. As of Wednesday morning, only six said they were still booking appointments, and they were going fast.

Forty-eight pharmacies said the supply they did have was spoken for, or that they had been completely out of vaccines for days or weeks. Three pharmacies refused to say whether or not they had any shots left.
