Police officer suffers facial injury following prolonged attack in east Auckland

Malthus said the incident began at around 9:20am when police received reports of a man assaulting a woman in a vehicle on Quay St before the driver took off towards Mission Bay.  After responding to the report the vehicle was found on Kitemoana St in Ōrākei, it was there police established the owner of the car and had several warrants for his arrest for serious offences.  The 41-year-old driver continued to avoid police before being stopped near Tamaki Dr which is where the assault occurred. The man was eventually tasered and arrested by other police that arrived.  Malthus said police were concerned video of the incident had been shared to social media by bystanders.

Second man arrested in connection with Auckland jewellery store robbery

Screenshot/Supplied CCTV footage from the store showed a man apparently armed with a pump action shotgun entering TJ Handcrafted in Botany Town Centre on a Sunday afternoon. A second man has been arrested following the aggravated robbery of a jewellery shop in east Auckland. The store owner, T Jordan, who did not want to be fully named, said he was alone in the shop when two men wearing face masks entered and held him at gunpoint. On Wednesday, police charged a 22-year-old man with aggravated robbery and aggravated assault in relation to the incident. READ MORE:

Retired Auckland educator accused of molesting girls loses name suppression

Graeme Richard Collett, 84, appeared at the Auckland District Court on Friday where he lost name suppression. Collett, who has worked in schools around Auckland s North Shore, has previously denied five charges of committing indecent acts on girls under the age of 12.
