Read Article OXFORD A Norway man charged with creating a police standoff on French Road this week remained at the Oxford County Jail in Paris on Friday night. Brian Cabral, 42, of 27 Holt Road appeared in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris on Friday. He was charged with creating a police standoff, violating conditions of release, unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs, aggravated unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and domestic violence terrorizing.  For the newer charges of creating a police standoff, bail was set at $10,000 with conditions prohibiting him from possessing dangerous weapons. For older drug trafficking charges on which Cabral was previously wanted by police, bail was set at $25,000 with a condition that he submit to random searches should he be freed.

Sunday River Brewing Co owners seek court reversal of license nonrenewal

They’re hoping this time will be different. In their petition, they’re asking the judge review a dozen actions taken by DHHS, including whether the decision by DHHS not to renew the restaurant’s health license was “proper.” They’re also asking the judge to determine whether DHHS “is selectively going after Two Brothers, LLC (the restaurant’s corporation) because of their outspoken dissatisfaction with the governor’s ability to govern in violation of Sunday River Brewing Company’s constitutional rights under the First and Fourteenth Amendments.” The petition asks whether the alleged difference by DHHS in its treatment of the restaurant compared to other businesses “is retribution for Sunday River Brewing Company exercising its First Amendment right to speak out” and is therefore a violation of its constitutional rights.
