Helen Glover says becoming the first mother to row for Great Britain at an Olympics is the ‘biggest achievement’ of her career after the double gold medallist was confirmed in the team for Tokyo.
The 34-year-old took time out from the sport to start a family following her success at Rio 2016, only announcing her comeback in January – six months out from the Games.
But Glover - who had son Logan in July 2018 and twins, Kit and Bo, in January 2020 – completed her mission ‘impossible’ yesterday when she was named in Team GB’s 45-strong rowing squad, where she will partner Polly Swann in the pair.

The plans would see lawns and wildflowers planted along the street to create a new public square over the summer
LDA Design has submitted plans to temporarily pedestrianise the western half of Oxford’s Broad Street, creating a major new public space in the city centre for the summer.
The practice was chosen by the local council to work up the proposal as part of a drive to support the city’s post-covid economic recovery.
The car-free plans would see lawns and wildflower meadows planted along the street to create a new public square to host community and arts events.
