MISSING: Richard Okorogheye, aged 19, hasn t been since since March 22
THE BODY of a man has been found by police in Epping Forest, in a pond in the woodland.
The body has not yet been identified, but specialist search teams from Essex police looking for Richard Okorogheye had been searching the forest for five days.
His family have been made aware of the news and are receiving support.
Richard is a 19-year-old student, who was last seen on March 22 at around 8pm. He did not take money or medication when he left his family home in Ladbroke Grove, west London.
The teenager told his mother that he was going to see a friend.

Share Metropolitan Police said in a statement last night : On the afternoon of Monday, 5 April, the Met was informed by colleagues from Essex Police that the body of a man had been found in a pond in Epping Forest Enquiries are underway to identify the body.Detectives investigating the disappearance of 19-year-old Richard Okorogheye are aware. Richard’s family are being supported by specially trained officers and kept updated with developments. Officers remain at the scene and enquiries continue. Evidence Joel has previously said that her son had spoken of struggling to cope with university pressures and had been shielding during the Covid-19 lockdown.

The mother of the missing student Richard Okorogheye has spoken of her devastation after being told by police that a body found in Epping Forest matched her son’s description.
Okorogheye, 19, has not been seen since leaving the home he shared with his mother, Evidence Joel, in Ladbroke Grove, west London, on the evening of 22 March.
The student was captured on CCTV walking near Epping Forest in the early hours of 23 March. Essex police said on Monday that a body had been found in the forest.
Joel, a 39-year-old community nurse, was told that the description matched that of the first-year business and IT undergraduate at Oxford Brookes University, who had been shielding throughout the pandemic because he suffered from sickle cell disease and left home only to attend hospital appointments.

Evidence Joel, the mother of missing Nigerian student Richard Okorogheye has been informed by police that a body found in Epping forest matches his description.
The body was discovered by Essex Police officers on Monday afternoon, 5 April, 13 days after the 19-year-old went missing.
Evidence Joel said that officers informed her of the news on Monday evening, as investigations remain underway to formally identify the body.
”Oh God, they said the description matches his, but we’ll go in tomorrow to find out,” Ms Joel told MyLondon.
