IN just two short weeks the finalists of the Oxfordshire Health & Social Care Awards will be revealed. Our judges are currently hard at work narrowing down their shortlist. The three finalists in every category will be announced in a special supplement later this month, profiling each hopeful and their efforts in the fight against coronavirus. While we eagerly await the panel’s decision, this week we’re turning the spotlight once again on some of the incredible healthcare teams, frontline workers and volunteers currently in the running for an accolade. Chantal Nicolau, a devoted live-in carer with Oxford Aunts, who went as far as preparing champagne dinners for her 100-year-old client to keep her in good spirits throughout the pandemic, is one of the unsung heroes nominated in the Domiciliary Care Worker category. She was put forward for the award by Shila Odedra-Silvera, head of business development at Oxford Aunts.

Meech International, a manufacturer of static control products for a range of sectors, including print, packaging, pharmaceutical, battery film and automotive is bringing its global workforce together to support charities local to each of Meech’s seven offices around the world.
Meech has set itself an ambitious six-month target for employees to run, walk or cycle as far as they can over that time and then to combine the distances covered to move from one Meech office to the next, tracking progress as they go, eventually making the full journey of 20,250 miles around the world.
Having begun the virtual journey in March at Meech’s global headquarters in the UK, employees have so far logged 2,189 miles, putting them in the middle of Turkey; this means they have now comfortably travelled beyond their other two European offices in Belgium and Hungary.
