AN APP offering shoppers discounts and rewards has been downloaded more than 1,000 times. The Love West Oxfordshire LoyalFree app launched on July 1, and is being run by the district council. Independent stores such as Pobi Bakery in Witney, The Madhatter Bookshop in Burford and The Tea Set in Chipping Norton are all offering the service. Suzi Coul, cabinet member for finance at West Oxfordshire District Council, said: “I am pleased that the app has been embraced by residents and businesses alike. “Local businesses have really got behind it and uploaded some fantastic offers for people to enjoy. “The app also has a number of interactive trails, highlighting some of the hidden treasures and attractions in the area, providing ideas for great days out during the summer holidays.

Picture: Google Maps PEOPLE in Oxfordshire are set to lose a well-used parking area for hundreds of cars despite continuous complaints about streets being plagued by vehicles dumped in awkward places for years. The temporary car park opposite Didcot Parkway railway station, which can house 253 vehicles and has eight disability spaces, has been identified as the location for South Oxfordshire District Council s new offices. Work is now underway to prepare proposals for planning permission in the near future. Earlier this month, the local authority submitted an application for the site next door to the Prince of Wales pub on Station Road to be used again as a car park for two more years.
