POLAND, Ohio, May 28, 2021 /PRNewswire/ Wickshire Senior Living has a new 4-legged resident, Pip. Pip is an English Springer Spaniel who spent the last five years serving our country in Iraq. When Dawn Ahern was house shopping with her husband 36 years ago, they stumbled upon the perfect home at 945 Fredericka Drive in South Park by accident.
“We looked at a house on the same street,” Ahern says. “We thought the price was a little bit more, but it had a fenced-in backyard and I wanted a dog so bad, so I said, ‘That’s it!’”
New Hanover 4-H Club members and parents were introduced to search and rescue as part of their career day curriculum.
To show off the skills of the K-9, the Brunswick Search and Rescue members, conducted a drill where children will get lost in the gardens of the New Hanover County Arboretum.
Bloodhound Otis met the members, matched the scents to the people, and realized one was missing from the group. He quickly found her hiding near a greenhouse.
Finn, a Labrador Retriever demonstrated how air scent dogs find the missing by running back and forth until he located the missing child.
