A host city agreement has been signed between the Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) and Bahrain Paralympic Committee for this year s edition of the Asian Youth Para Games.
The ceremony, held at the Art Hotel and Resort in Manama, was attended by APC chair Majid Rashed and his counterpart at the Bahrain Paralympic Committee, Shaikh Mohamed bin Duaij Al Khalifa.
Also in attendance was APC executive director Tariq Al Suwaiy, Bahrain Paralympic Committee secretary general Ali Mohamed Al Majid, and Para-athletes Ahmed Alhindawi and Zainah Abdulqadeer.
During the ceremony, Rashed thanked the Bahrain Paralympic Committee for its efforts in preparing to host the Asian Youth Para Games, despite the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
BWF confirms dates of final Para-badminton qualifier for Tokyo 2020 Wednesday, 3 February 2021
The Spanish Para Badminton International - the sport’s last qualification tournament for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games - is scheduled to be held in May, it has been announced.
The Badminton World Federation (BWF) confirmed the event will run from May 10 to 16 after revealing its Para-badminton calendar for 2021.
Cartagena was originally due to stage the competition in March last year only for it to be cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Since then, no international Para-badminton tournaments have been held hampering athletes’ preparations for the rescheduled Tokyo 2020 Games where the sport will make its long-awaited Paralympic debut.

The Bahrain Paralympic Committee (BPC) is not leaving any stones unturned in their quest to support their athletes to unravel their full potential and achieve success at the highest level.
Over the past year, BPC has undergone several positive changes including giving a facelift to their identity by launching their redesigned logo – ‘We are Dreamers’.
The logo is based on five fundamental ideas encompassing the spirit of Excellence, Achievement, National Pride, Passion and Paralympic Vision that defines the Committee core.
“These ideas, expressed visually in this illustration, transcend different personas, abilities, and obstacles to create a framework within which our shared story can be told. A story that can be told in many ways, in every language, for different audiences, while consistently expressing a shared purpose,” explained BPC secretary general Ali Mohamed Al Majed.

Asia was all set to take centerstage in 2020 as Tokyo was geared up to host the Paralympic Games in the summer. But the COVID-19 pandemic brought sports action to a grinding halt, and with that came the postponement of the mega event as well.
Amid this pandemonium, India’s Para badminton star Manasi Joshi’s growing popularity graph remained the high point in Asia, this year. The reigning World Champion became the first ever Para athlete to feature in the
TIME magazine’s 2020 list of Next Generation Leader.
