Yesterday, Education Minister Dr Majid bin Ali Al Nuaimi came out wearing red to cheer the team. The team on Thursday grabbed a thumping win by blasting eight goals against none scored by Cambodia to rise to the top of Group C with 12 points in a joint qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2022. Bahrain now has two m o re games ahead of them in their bid to make it to the next round. Works Minister Essam Khalaf also posted thumps up for National Team on the ministry’s Instagram account.

Hajra urges PM Imran to intervene over PFF suspension Pakistan captain believes sports should be ‘a priority’ during former cricket captain’s tenure KARACHI: Is it not ironic to have a former sportsman as the Prime Minister of a country but still the country’s football federation receives suspension from Fifa, despite football being the sport of the people, the sport that has been most diverse in its way with the Pakistanis. Pakistan women’s football team captain Hajra Khan has urged former cricketer and now PM Imran Khan and the President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi to intervene and convince a group of former Pakistan Football Federation(PFF) officials to leave the headquarters that they took over on March 27, which prompted Fifa to suspend Pakistan’s membership on Wednesday.

SAFF Championship to be held in September 2021 in Bangladesh

The biennial international men s football competition of South Asia,  the SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) Championship will be held tentatively from September 14 to 25, 2021 in Bangladesh,  Goal understands.  Pakistan was set to host this edition of the tournament but later it was shifted to Bangladesh. The BFF (Bangladesh Football Federation) has organised the competition thrice before in 2003, 2009 and 2018.  On 11 April 2018, SAFF awarded the hosting rights of the 2021 SAFF Championship to Pakistan after FIFA restored Pakistan Football Federation s membership. It would have been the country s first international football tournament after the overturn of the ban. However, on 15 September 2019, SAFF president Kazi Salahuddin and general secretary Anwarul Haque Helal along with representatives of seven member countries decided to shift the venue to Bangladesh.
