It is good news for us that Kaushik s latest Covid-19 report is negative. But since he hasn t started normal training, it has been decided that he will skip the Asian meet, a coach associated with the national camp told IANS from Patiala.

The competition is scheduled to start on May 21. The Indian team includes 10 women boxers. The Indian men and women s boxing teams haven t got visas to travel to Dubai. We are, however, trying our level best to send the teams, BFI secretary Hemanta Kalita told IANS.

The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) had planned collective training for the 10-member squad at ASI ahead of the tournament. However, ASI has allowed boxers to join only in batches. While five, including MC Mary Kom, had joined till Friday, the remaining five had been allowed to move into ASI only next week.

The camp is supposed to start in Pune this week. Yadav is undergoing a 15-day quarantine at New Delhi s Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. It is a difficult situation. Last week my Covid-19 report was negative. Since then I haven t interacted with anyone but my Wednesday s Covid-19 test revealed that I m positive. I was supposed to join the national camp in Pune. But after the positive report, I can t go. I m alright but will have to follow the Covid-19 protocols laid down by Sports Authority of India (SAI), Yadav told IANS.
