PH gets green light to host Asian Women's Volleyball Championships in Clark

This will mark as the third time that the country will host the said event following previous hosting in 1997 and 2017. Jiangmen, China was supposed to host the event but pulled out for some reason. As hosts, the PH women’s team earns an automatic slot to the tournament, which is expected to have 16 teams. Eleven teams have already qualified namely 2019 champion Japan and runner-up Thailand, South Korea, China, Kazakhstan, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Indonesia, Australia, India and Hong Kong.

PNVF taps new committee for formation of national team

(PNVF) will be in charge of the national team selection as the association eyes the Southeast Asian Games gold medal in the coming editions. PNVF President Tats Suzara bared this plan and said the decision will not longer be in the hands of the coaching staff alone, which has been a common practice for team sports. The commission will be made up of seven members headed by a chairman and a secretary, who are experienced in setting up guidelines for the selection. Suzara said he will sit as co-chairman in the commission.

(PNVFI) is setting a lofty goal of bagging gold in the next two editions of the Southeast Asian Games and a place in the top eight in Asia. “If we cannot get the gold in Vietnam (2021), we target the next SEA Games in Cambodia (2023),” said PNVFI president Ramon “Tats” Suzara during the Philippine Sportswriters Association (PSA) Forum on Tuesday. Suzara said the Philippine teams cannot stay idle. “Hopefully, we’ll do our best in the Vietnam SEA Games. Hindi lang naman tayo pati Vietnam and Thailand natigil because of COVID. I think it will be a balanced competition,” said Suzara.
