I woke up this morning with my phone ringing.
It was Ligaya Salonga calling. I answered right away. She made a comment about my bedroom voice. I didn’t even take my time to clear my throat.
As always, Mrs. Salonga’s call was about Lea Salonga. She would only call if it was about Lea or her son, orchestral conductor, musical arranger, musical director of the ABS-CBN Philharmonic Orchestra, and resident conductor of the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra Gerard Salonga.

NORRISTOWNÂ â Montgomery Countyâs Asian and Pacific Islander community was formally recognized as the Montgomery County Commissioners presented a proclamation designating May as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month.
âItâs been a wonderful relationship that the AAPI community has been building in Montgomery County, and I m so honored to receive this proclamation. Thank you so much for your recognition,â said Sharon Hartz, president of the Korean American Association of Greater Philadelphia.
First established in 1992, Congress passed legislation featuring May as Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, according to the proclamation. Approximately 8 percent of Montgomery County residents are of Asian and Pacific Islander descent.

Queer Eye star Tan France has joined with other celebrities to demand better for Asian and Asian American individuals in a new Netflix campaign video.
The video, titled “Welcome to Our World”, features a variety of celebrities discussing various stereotypes perpetuated by the media.
Netflix said it was highlighting the issue because Asians “deserve better than the erasure, caricatures and stereotypes perpetuated by the entertainment industry”.
