Finance minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, in his speech during unveiling the national budget for 2021-22 fiscal year, on Thursday set the target to keep inflation within 5.3 per cent in the coming FY amid the continued price hike of essential commodities.
Economists said that it might be challenging for the government to keep inflation in Bangladesh under control amid volatile prices of commodities on the local and international market.
Mustafa in his budget speech expected that the inflation rate would be within 5.3 per cent during the period.
He said that the overall inflation, including the price level of essentials, remained stable in the outgoing fiscal year.
