KUALA LUMPUR: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Convent Bukit Nanas (SMK CBN), having obtained a further 60-year extension of its land lease, should be recognised as a national heritage site.
National Parents-Teacher Associations Consultative Council (PIBGN) president Associate Professor Datuk Dr Mohamad Ali Hasan said it was important for the historic school to be gazetted as a national heritage to preserve, conserve and protect the site.
“The efforts by the government in taking the initiative to propose the school as a National Heritage Site should be commended .. an effort that should receive solid support from all quarters,” he said when contacted by Bernama.

KUALA LUMPUR: The National Parents-Teacher Associations Consultative Council (PIBGN) has suggested that the Ministry of Education (MOE) to turn district education offices (PPDs) into ‘one stop centres’ in addressing problems related to home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) and DidikTV KPM.
PIBGN president, Associate Prof Datuk Dr Mohamad Ali Hasan said that it was due to PPDs being the best medium to communicate with parents who face complications, and bring their problems to the authorities immediately.
“I suggest that the MOE creates a hotline managed by dedicated staff who are specifically assigned to address any of these matters (PdPR and DidikTV) at the district level, rather than being centralised at the state or national level.
Relief as schools reopen 02 Mar 2021 / 10:41 H.
KUALA
LUMPUR: While the sentiment has been largely negative on social media, many parents and students are relieved that schools have finally reopened.
Even education experts have welcomed the move, describing it as long overdue, pointing out that face-to-face learning is always more efficient.
Pre-schoolers and pupils in Year One and Two were in class for the new school year yesterday. Those in Year Three to Six will resume face-to-face learning in class on Monday.
For those in secondary school, classes will resume on April 5 in Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu, and on the following day in other states as well as the three federal territories of Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya and Labuan.
