Charges are looming following yet another service at Aylmer’s Church of God over the weekend, the town’s police say.
Officers monitored the Sunday service at the John Street church, which was attended by “a large number of participants” in violation of provincial rules to slow the spread of COVID-19, Aylmer police said.

“Charges against the organization and two directors who organized and actively participated in the service are pending,” police said.

Artur Pawlowski, a pastor from Alberta, Canada, was arrested Saturday for allegedly organizing a church service that ignored social distancing rules and where congregants were not wearing masks amid the COVID-19 pandemic marking another confrontation with law enforcement following an April incident in which he described local police as Nazis.
Prior to the incident, according to Calgary Police, Alberta Health Services got a Court of Queen s Bench Order that applies to gatherings including protests, demonstrations and rallies. This order imposes new restrictions on organizers of protests and demonstrations requiring compliance with public health orders including masking, physical distancing and attendance limits.

Because I’m not an ‘organized religion’ person, I have to say I found it frustrating in the past when hard core Christians defended the former American president and some of the shenanigans associated with him by using the Bible.
There are apparently a number of passages within it that advise us that those in authority are in authority because they have been appointed by God.

Aylmer police say more charges loom for members of the town’s Church of God, where a large service was held Sunday despite a recent contempt finding against the church and its pastor.
Monday morning, Aylmer’s police chief, Zvonko Horvat, announced that charges “against the organization and directors who actively participated and organized the service are pending.”

The church has been flashpoint for anti-lockdown protests since the COVID-19 pandemic began last year. With Ontario now back in shutdown, and a stay-at-home order in place, its emergency law aimed at slowing the virus’s spread tightened the cap on indoor church gatherings at 10 people starting April 19.
