In February one platoon of women will join Lima Company, 3rd Recruit Training Battalion, training alongside platoons of male recruits. The organization will be similar to at least nine coed companies that have trained through Parris Island, South Carolina, since January 2019.

Jamal Norris/Marine Corps) In February junior Marines looking for promotion to corporal or sergeant will see a new, more robust promotion system, designed to reduce the importance of any one event and give commands greater input on noncommissioned officer promotion. The new junior enlisted performance evaluation system, or JEPES, will replace the old pros/cons method and will be made up of three objective scores ― called war fighting, physical toughness and mental agility ― combined with a more subjective score provided by a Marine’s command, called command input.

Marine Corps to Begin Gender Integrated Training at San Diego Boot Camp

The Marine Corps in February will start conducting gender integrated training at its San Diego boot camp, the service announced this week.
In a news release, the service said it would start training for males and females at San Diego Marine Corps Recruit Depot.
