A £130,000 refurbishment of town council managed Heap Parkinson Almshouses in Skipton has successfully been completed. Louise Close, chief officer of Skipton Town Council, said councillors were very pleased with the result which meant one elderly man living in difficult circumstances would be able to move in, while four other homes would soon be available. Plans to refurbish the almshouses on Otley Road stopped last year because of the coronavirus pandemic; it was picked up in January, and managed by the council’s estates supervisor, Mark Robinson. Mrs Close said local contractors had worked tirelessly to bring the project up to date and the results were ‘outstanding’.
