State gets half of expected vaccines

State gets half of expected vaccines Oakridger Tennessee health officials confirmed Wednesday the state is getting about half as much coronavirus vaccine this week as originally expected, leaving many counties already facing vaccine shortages with even fewer doses in the near future. The state also stopped disclosing which county health agencies currently have a vaccine supply and which have run out.  Tennessee received 47,875 doses of the vaccine from the federal government this week, a health department spokesman said. This supply will be used for first doses and divided between hospitals, nursing homes and county health agencies. The state health department has not provided a breakdown of how the vaccine supply is divided, but officials said earlier this week doses will be steered to nursing homes, so counties will receive “smaller shipments” than normal.
