The accident happened around 8:40 a.m. Saturday on Highway 88 in the Slabtown Community. Anderson County Coroner Greg Shore identified Joshua Bernard Williams, 31, from Piedmont as the driver who was killed in the accident.  Williams vehicle was traveling east on Highway 88 and apparently traveled across the roadway into the opposing lane of traffic and struck a Ford pickup truck, according to the investigation.  Williams was wearing a seatbelt and was entrapped in the vehicle requiring rescue personnel to extricate him from the wreckage. Williams was traveling home after getting off working the night shift at Michelin. The victim in the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for evaluation.
