On 19
th December 2020, commemoration day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, while on a working visit to Bari, Italy, officiated at the Divine Liturgy in the Basilica of St. Nicholas, on the holy relics of this saint.
Concelebrating with the archpastor were Archpriest Vyacheslav Bachin, rector of the Patriarchal Metochion of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in Bari, and Archimandrite Avgustin (Morozov), rector of the Parish of the Holy Apostle Matthew in Salerno.
After the Litany of Fervent Supplication Metropolitan Hilarion lifted up a prayer read at the time of baneful pestilence.

NEWPORT NEWS Matilda Cleo Pettaway, 69, also known as “Till,” “Tilly,” and “Mama Tilly,” entered into eternal rest Friday, Dec. 18, 2020. It was 6:36 p.m. when the Lord decided to call her home. We now have an angel to protect us in any of life’s circumstances.
Matilda lived her life to the fullest extent and excelled at each and everything she took on. Her education started at Newsome Park Elementary School followed by Pembroke High School. Tilly went on to advance her education at Thomas Nelson Community College, earning a degree in business administration. Tilly’s next chapter would include a 40-year career at Hampton Police Division. She was a pioneer in the field of police training. Her warm smile, genuine personality, and love for her career made the department a part of her family.

A Professor of Virology, Oyewale Tomori, says the government has not been able to shut down worship centres amid the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic because the government is afraid of religious leaders in Nigeria.
