As St. Paul often wrote at the outset and/or conclusion of his writings and sermons: “Grace, mercy, and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.”
One of the most cherished freedoms we have in our country is that of mobility: the opportunity to travel, move about, visit with family and friends.
The beauty and luxury of being able to drop in, looking after each other, renewing acquaintances and affirming relationships is the ultimate joy of being able to visit and be visited.
Regrettably, since March our ability to visit has been greatly discouraged and curtailed.

And the Word became flesh and lived among us (John 1.14)
As we approach once again the commemoration of the nativity of the Lord Jesus Christ we do so against the backdrop of a year dominated by a global pandemic. Coronavirus infections have caused widespread sickness, many thousands of deaths and an economic crisis around the world. The situation of our world was already fragile, with other public health emergencies, continuing conflicts and climate change affecting the lives of God’s world and God’s people. The pandemic has exacerbated the inequalities in the world, with the poorest and most vulnerable most deeply affected.
1.0 A Thought For The Week: “It was Thomas Aquinas’ proofs for the existence of God that brought me into the Church,” said the eager theology student to his professor. “I’m very happy for you,” replied Sofia, the wise, seasoned and experienced teacher, “they almost drove me out of it.” There’s a big difference between proving the existence of God and experiencing God; between explaining God and encountering God. Thinking, analysis, and philosophical arguments are lovely and can be very helpful tools but they also run the risk of boxing up the faith in dangerous and suffocating systems of belief. Analysing God or faith is like dissecting a frog. When you take it apart, you might find out what it’s made up of, but the frog itself is killed in the process. Are you seeking to define God or to encounter God, like the Psalmist who said: “Taste and see that the Lord is good”?

What is Christmas all about?
Dear Editor,
We human beings tend to have a conspiracy theory about everything under the sun. The traditional Christmas season is upon us for yet another time. Most of us will make merry, enjoy the company of our relatives, friends and lovers, while strictly observing the health protocols mandated by the continued onslaught of COVID-19, eat plenty ham and turkey, attend watch night services and plan for 2021 (or at least that is one of the things that we should do) and give the Lord Jesus Christ thanks and praises for seeing us through yet another turbulent year.
