Have You Seen this Flock of Turkeys in Sioux Falls?
You may have noticed a large flock of wild turkeys roaming the neighborhoods of Sioux Falls the past few weeks. The birds, largely spend most of their time near a few wooded areas within the city.
With a little over 6 months to go before Thanksgiving, these turkeys clearly have no fear, trotting around city parks and gobbling at passers-by.
Which areas of the city are these birds calling home these days? Well, it seems they have a few favorite spots around town.

The turkeys have been seen spending a lot of time in and around 57th and Minnesota, near the wooded area. They ve also been spotted numerous times around the Spencer Boulevard area and along Oxbow Avenue, near the Oxbow Park Apartments.
Warmer temperatures are starting to take hold in the Sioux Empire which means it s time to enjoy more time outdoors doing the things we love including swimming, hiking, and camping. Summertime in South Dakota also means one other tiny detail.the bugs are back!
More and more little critters will soon be crawling or flying around the neighborhood. Sometimes kids are curious, and they like to pick up some bugs. I was the same way growing up. We even had a neighborhood kid Bug Club! However, even though some bugs may look harmless that doesn t mean kids should be playing with them.

On this day in 1980, Alabama scored its first number one hit on the country charts with
Tennessee River. It would be the first of 21 consecutive number one hits, spanning until 1987, for the biggest band in the history of country music.
The band got its start in (you guessed it) Fort Payne, Alabama back in 1969, however, they initially had another name. Back then, they were known as
WildCountry.
WildCountry performed in bars across the southern U.S. throughout the 1970s. It wasn t until 1977 that they began going by
Alabama.

She wrote
Ring of Fire: June wrote the lyrics to this song in the early 60s when she and Johnny were singing partners. They were both married at the time, but she gave Johnny the song and it became one of the biggest hits he ever had. Years later they married, and it was Johnny who stated that marrying June is what saved his life.
