MILAN
.-kaufmann repetto announces a solo exhibition of artist Corita Kent (b. 1918, Fort Dodge, d. 1986, Boston). Developed in collaboration with the Corita Art Center in Los Angeles, to the everyday miracle presents a retrospective view of Kent s work, bringing together over 40 prints and watercolors as well as a selection of archival materials spanning from the early 1950s until her death in 1986.
Corita Kent was an artist, educator, and advocate for social justice whose work reflects the ascendancy of Pop Art, the spiritual renewal of the Second Vatican Council and the political activism of the 1960s. Nancy Manocherian s the cell theatre (Artistic Director Kira Simring) will host in-person street-side performances featuring the performers captured in Rachel Rampleman s exhibit LIFE IS DRAG. On Saturday March 13 at 5:00 PM Darlinda Just Darlindaand Mimi Silk will perform in the windows of the cell s space on 23rd street. The performance is free of charge however tips and donations are greatly appreciated. Masks are required and audiences are asked to maintain social distancing practices from other members throughout the length of the pop-up performance. The exhibition will extend hours until 7PM on March 13 only and will be available to view on the cell s third floor Gallery. Visitors will have the opportunity to engage with the performers during gallery hours prior to the performance.

In the often-solitary life of an artist, it is rare to find a trustworthy peer to take on the role of confidante. And there’s a good reason why: critique, both internal and from others, is a never-ending obsession for an artist, whose livelihood is dependent on the personal outpouring of their craft. Indeed, it takes a very special sort of friendship between artists to persist through the highs and lows of their unique lifestyles and to overcome professional jealousy, easily bruised feelings, and, at times, differing opinions on what makes good art.
