Meet the Judges: H Eugene Foster, Emerging Photography Awards Juror

H Eugene Foster has been an instructor at the world-renowned International Center of Photography for more than two decades, during which time he saw the industry transition from analog to digital. Today, in addition to his role at ICP, he offers one-on-one instruction with a focus on digital photography using Adobe Photoshop and Photoshop Lightroom. He is also one of our judges for the 7th Annual Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards.
As a photographer himself, Foster currently has multiple projects in progress, including I Am Black: Translations. As part of the documentary exhibition and book project, the artist invites people to sit for a portrait, at home or in the environment of their choice, while submitting their personal definitions of what they mean when they say, “I Am Black.” Every sitter receives their portrait as it will appear in the exhibition.

The 7th Annual Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards is now open for entries! This year, prizes include street exhibitions in NYC and LA, gallery shows in Paris and Berlin, inclusion in the Feature Shoot Emerging Photographers book, and more. 2021’s submitting photographers will also have the chance to have their work seen by our judging panel, composed of internationally renowned voices within the industry.

Announcing the Winners of the Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards

After reviewing hundreds of outstanding submissions, we’re delighted to announce the thirteen winners of the 6th Annual Feature Shoot Emerging Photography Awards. This year’s jury selected ten photographers to exhibit their work as part of a poster run in select locations throughout the streets of East London. Three photographers were chosen to be part of the FORMAT International Photography Festival in Derby.
The three photographers headed to the FORMAT International Photography Festival in Derby are Florence Goupil, Felix Schoeppner, and Christopher Sims, hailing from Peru, Germany, and the United States, respectively. Learn about all the winners below.
