Attention RAGBRAI riders: The Register s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa has released updated daily route maps with the specific routes for each day, plus special events and towns.
With the route now mapped, RAGBRAI XLVIII will cover 455.5 miles from July 25-31, up from 426 miles when it was first announced in January. The Le Mars-to-Clinton route is the same one planned for 2020, except that Sac City and DeWitt will replace Storm Lake and Maquoketa as overnight towns.
At 84 miles, the Le Mars to Sac City ride on day one will be the longest for riders who do not opt for the century loop on Day 5. At 2,816 feet of climb, it also will be the steepest. It will include the annual Mile of Silence to honor cyclists killed on roads.
