SHELDONâIowaâs Ride hit another roadblock after Sheldon decided last week to back away from the cross-state cycling event planned for July.
Sheldon had been designated as the last overnight stop, Friday, 23, on the inaugural ride that is scheduled to travel from Dubuque to Rock Rapids.
The Sheldon City Council decided to hold the $5,000 it had set aside to fund local amenities, and planning committee co-chair Heidi Brown said it was unlikely that the ride will come together.
âThere is still a great deal of uncertainty surrounding whether or not the ride will take place,â Brown said. âI have had e-mail correspondence with the former director of Iowaâs Ride, T.J. Juskiewicz, and at this point, he is unable to say with any certainty what the ride will look like, if it takes place.â
