Community Bulletin Board: Criterion Sentinel (for April 21) The Metuchen Arts Council is joining with the Metuchen Human Relations Commission to schedule virtual Community Conversations around the issues highlighted in 2021 Windows of Understanding Public Art Project. The third in the series will take place at 7:30 p.m. April 21 on the topic of climate change. Artists Lauren Curtis, Maja Opacic and Mickey Waring were commissioned by the Metuchen Arts Council to create art that illuminates the mission of the Edison Greenways Group. Walter Stochel, vice president of the group, will participate in the discussion about their mission and their work to enhance the quality of life in our community.

The show takes place in Putnam County and is about several middle school aged children who take part in a chaotic spelling bee and the adults that make it all happen.  This show can be easily social-distanced, and all performers are 6 feet apart, with clear plastic masks so audience members can see their expressive faces. The show itself has only a few characters, so it’s perfect for these times. There are also two rotating casts, with only 10 people in each cast, so it’s easy to social distance and to stay safe. Wichita Theatre adapted, thrived through COVID Richard Carter The 2020 Wichita Theatre production schedule did not go as planned, said Dwayne Jackson, president/co-executive producer, but he and their team adapted, and have continued to adapt, to the circumstances of COVID-19 in order to produce entertaining shows that were safe for their audiences to enjoy and for their actors and production crews to participate.   The Wichita Theatre just completed a three-week (with a one-week holdover) production of “Roald Dahl’s Matilda the Musical” and is currently readying “Peter Pan: A Musical Adventure” to open April 23. The Theatre also announced last week their huge summer production “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” musical running from June 18 through the end of July.
