Lakeland real estate booms: Few sellers, surplus of buyers

If Frank Ammons could summarize his search for the perfect Lakeland home in one word, it would be aggressive.   Ammons, 38, and his wife Mary, 28, looked at four houses in Lakeland that got snatched off the market before they could say Mine!   We were very aggressive about it, Ammons said. We d look at the house, we d love the house, we d say let s put an offer on the house, our Realtor would turn around and put an offer  and there were already offers, Ammons said.  Lakeland is a microcosm of a national trend: It s a seller s market, no doubt about it. And in Swan City, demand is high and inventory is low, complicating the search process for relocators like Ammons.

Vaccine rollout hits new milestone; first community clinic for African Nova Scotians held in Upper Hammonds Plains

HALIFAX The vaccine rollout hit another milestone in Nova Scotia with the very first community vaccination clinic for African Nova Scotians. One of the biggest barriers is the mistrust that people in the Black community have had over the years in terms of the medical system and so along comes this vaccine and the mistrust and the misinformation about the vaccine has made it even more difficult, he said.

News 8 is looking back on the COVID-19 pandemic one year later. In this Zevely Zone, I circled back with a single mother making a big difference in the North County. Vanessa Graziano started hand delivering hot meals to the homeless last March. Have a good day, okay? said Vanessa during our ride along with her. The homeless population has been one of the hardest hit throughout the Coronavirus pandemic. Credit: Oceanside Homeless Resource Vanessa started the Oceanside Homeless Resource because with every meal she passed out she remembers her own past. I have a story I absolutely have a story, said Vanessa. A few years ago, Vanessa lived in her car, battled addiction, and lost her three children but even then, she believed. There is always a little light right? I
