ALBANY, N.Y. New York State Attorney-General Letitia A. James says that her office’s investigation into allegations of sexual harassment by Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo will forge ahead despite the announcement of a separate probe by the state legislature on March 11.
An impeachment probe was announced by New York State Assembly Speaker Carl E. Heastie only hours after 59 Democratic state lawmakers, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio and the National Organization of Women called for Cuomo to resign.
Facing a deluge of calls to resign from New York’s U.S. senators and the majority of its House Democrats, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo made clear on Friday he had no intention of quitting, deriding the mounting pressure from his own party as “cancel culture” and insisting he would not bow to it. The calls first came in a coordinated barrage of statements released in the morning from more than a dozen House members most of the state’s Democratic.

Things are looking worse by the hour for New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. Recently, a fourth, fifth, and then a sixth woman came forward to accuse him of inappropriate behavior. At that point, Cuomoâs support among top Democrats in New York began to crumble â apparently some were OK with three accusers, but not with five or six.
First, the leader of the New York State Senate, Andrea Stewart-Cousins, demanded the governorâs resignation. Then the leader of the State Assembly, Carl Heastie, suggested Cuomo should.
