Booting up the Porsche 911 GT3 online configurator presents you with an extensive choice of exterior color options for your new track toy including white, black, Guards Red, or Racing Yellow. For an additional cost, you can have your 911 GT3 painted in metallic colors including Carrara White, Jet Black, Agate Grey, Dolomite Silver, GT Silver, and Gentian Blue. Then there are Porsche s Special Colors .
Costing an extra $3,500 each, these premium color options include Shark Blue, Crayon, Lava Orange, and Python Green. Shark Blue is a brand new color option for the 911 GT3, which explains why it was shown off in every exterior press shot.
Autocar, Preuninger said the color is actually inspired by a superyacht he saw.
“I was lying on the beach in Sardinia and this big, beautiful superyacht passed by – 300ft, very elegant – and it had this gleaming blue hull,” he said. “I was on my feet with my camera, because I thought ‘that’s exactly the colour we need’, and the rest is history.”
Those not so fond of Shark Blue will be pleased to know that the new 911 GT3 is available with a plethora of different standard colors, including the likes of Guards Red, Racing Yellow, Black, White, Gentian Blue Metallic, Lava Orange, and Python Green. Should customers have the extra cash, they can also order custom colors through the Paint-to-Sample program.
