According to Mark Norman, Chief Operating Officer for Penn Highlands, they’ve administered 23,000 first and second doses to individuals in Phase 1A.
“Up until the past two weeks, system wide we were receiving average of about 1,500 vaccine doses per week however each week especially last two weeks we have begun to see higher quantities arrive,” said Norman.
Officials said they’ll start to vaccinate the 65+ population along with those aged 16-64 with a medical condition.
In light of the recent news of vaccine mis-allocations from the state, Penn Highlands had to act quickly.
“We immediately froze all first dose clinics where we were providing Moderna to save it for second dose clinics, we believe we have enough in reserve for those folks to receive the first dose of Moderna and need a second dose,” said Andrew Kurtz, Vaccine Lead for Penn Highlands.

From the moment legendary Sinatra tribute artist Brian Duprey stepped on stage at the Barbara B Mann Performing Arts Center, I was convinced I was transported back to 1957 and listening in hip holiday 50s style. Even Sinatra’s own daughter Nancy Sinatra has said anyone just listening might swear it was her father performing. Duprey spent over 10 years in Las Vegas perfecting the show.

Officials said they vaccinated 240 employees.
“Things went wonderfully well, we got people through appropriately and we didn’t have any problems folks were very happy to get vaccinated,” said Andrew Kurtz, Vaccine Lead & Director of Retail Pharmacy Services for Penn Highlands.
According to Andrew Kurtz, Penn Highlands has a very systematized process for transporting the vaccine.
“Our inpatient pharmacy was critical to getting the doses down to our vaccination area transport was easy we were able to get doses down with no issues,” he said.
He said employees were vaccinated in an area away from the public and patient care, that allowed for social distancing.
