(AP Photo/Tony Dejak)AP Facebook Share Rotunda Rumblings The doctor is out: Former Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton announced Tuesday she would not seek the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in 2022, Seth Richardson reports. Some Democrats had been pushing heavily for Acton to jump into the race for the open Senate seat since last year, with pressure increasing on the former mainstay of coronavirus briefings following Republican Sen. Rob Portman’s announcement he wouldn’t run again in 2022. The move seems to clear a path for Rep. Tim Ryan, who’s expected to run, although it could invite other Democrats considering the race to jump in.
