According to a campaign announcement, he is running on the platform of “Unity, Education, and Solutions.” Potvin serves as the Ward 6 School Committee member, and has served previously as a city councilor and School Committee member in Auburn before moving to Lewiston in 2014. In 2017, Potvin was vice chair of the effort to defeat the Lewiston-Auburn merger referendum. He is semiretired, working as a correctional officer for the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office since 2001. Potvin’s platform is based on what he feels are essentials to the success of Lewiston.

Jay man dies in early-morning ATV crash in Canton Share CANTON A Jay man was found dead on the side of the road in an apparent all-terrain vehicle crash early Friday morning at 173 Tessier Road. The Oxford Sheriff’s Office was called at 4:13 a.m. when the crash and victim were discovered by a newspaper carrier. The body was identified as Bradford White, 61, who was the sole occupant of the ATV, said Oxford Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy James Urquhart. An investigation revealed that White was driving an ATV early Friday morning on Tessier Road when he apparently lost control. The ATV landed on White, pinning him in a ditch, Urquhart said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Matthew Newton Fortin Androscoggin County Jail An Androscoggin County grand jury handed up the felony charge against Matthew Newton-Fortin, 18, of 244 Lisbon St., Lisbon. The charge is punishable by up to 30 years in prison. The grand jury also charged him with elevated aggravated assault, which also carries a maximum punishment of 30 years in prison. Newton-Fortin has remained at Androscoggin County Jail since his arrest in lieu of $75,000 cash bail. Related He has a juvenile record.
