Nominations sought for Sylvia Evans Award
February 24, 2021BERLIN Coös County Family Health Services is seeking nominations from members of the greater Androscoggin Valley Region for this year s Sylvia Evans Citizenship Award. For more than three decades, a local woman has been chosen to receive this citizenship award from a list of nominees who have devoted their time and energy toward community service to improve the lives of North Country residents. The Sylvia Evans award provides an opportunity to highlight the extraordinary and often unrecognized contributions that women have made to our region. It also serves as a means of providing a role model for us all to emulate.
ANDROSCOGGIN VALLEY â My adventure with the COVID-19 vaccination process began the same as everyone else in my age group on Jan. 23 when people 65 and over were advised to apply for an appointment on the CDC Vaccine Administration Management System website by the state of New Hampshire.
I went online to register for an appointment for myself and my wife, Kathy.
I started online at about 9 a.m. At first, I could not find any available appointments closer than Littleton.
In frustration, I gave up and left my Gorham house to do some errands. I knew that vaccine doses were going to be distributed at the former Brown School in Berlin.
