Let Jean Mensa resign first, then we can dialogue – NDC insists
The Greater Accra Regional Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Ade Coker says the party will agree to dialogue only if the Electoral Commission’s Chairperson Madam Jean Mensa will resign from her position.
According to him, they have lost trust in her and will agree to dialogue issues when she bows her head in shame and resigns from her position.
Supporters of the National Democratic Congress(NDC) have been protesting across the country to drum home the need for the electoral commission to declare John Dramani Mahama the winner of this year’s election.
The NDC supporters left shortly after the declaration Supporters of the National Democratic Congress who converged at the head office of the Electoral Commission on Wednesday, December 8, 2020, dispersed in peace shortly after the declaration of the presidential results.
The EC chairperson, Jean Mensa at about 6:00 GMT with her veto, declared the incumbent, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana.
Nana Akufo-Addo polled 6,730,413, representing 51.595% while John Mahama garnered 6, 214, 889 representing 47.366% in the 8th election in the 4th Republic that had a dozen candidates.
The NDC supporters had claimed that the EC had manipulated the results to favour the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who have amassed up at the Electoral Commission (EC) have been dispersed by the Ghana Police Service.
The supporters went to the Commission over an alleged stolen verdict and insisting they want justice .
Some of them who spoke to the media while fleeing from the tear gas being sprayed by the police held placards reading:
Akufo-Addo must step down ,
We re here for justice ,
We will not allow Jean Mensa and Akufo-Addo to take us where we don t like
We re sending a signal to Mahama not to sign any document
Jean Mensah should know that Ghana doesn t belong to her alone

NDC supporters mass up in Tamale to protest against EC
Supporters of the National Democratic Congress have hit the street of Tamale in the Northern Region to protest against the declaration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as president-elect in the just ended polls.
The demonstration which is currently ongoing in the city central recorded huge turnout as partakers chanted war songs.
The National Vice-Chair of the opposition National Democratic Congress Chief Sofo Azoka was pictured holding hands with some supporters as they went around town.
Others were seen with placards on motorcycles while others burnt car tyres at some parts of the city.
