(WLBT) - Drivers in Jackson will notice an increased police presence along I-55 North, I-220, and other highways in the metro area. Jackson Police Department Chief James Davis vows to arrest those who participate in the kind of activity that happened over the New Years’ holiday. Chief Davis says “Click It or Ticket” grant money will be used and JPD will partner with several law enforcement agencies, Hinds County Sheriff’s Department, Ridgeland Police Department, and the Mississippi Highway Patrol, in this special operation.

Vehicle crushes 2 to death in Lower West Akyem LISTEN DEC 21, 2020 A Kia truck has killed two persons who were travelling on a motorbike on the Tutu and Akanteng road in the Lower West Akyem Municipality of the Eastern Region. The truck, with registration number ER-246-15, which was alleged to have been speeding, knocked down the two persons who were on the unregistered motorbike. The rider died on the spot. The pillion rider died later at the St. Dominic Hospital at Akwatia, also in the Eastern Region. Confirming the incident, the Municipal Director for the Lower West Akyem arm of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Mr Kwasi Addo Annor, disclosed that the driver of the truck, identified as 46-year-old Asi Agyei, tried to run away after the incident.

Motorcyclist, another suffer life-threatening injuries over ‘bushmeat’ A motorcyclist and his pillion rider have sustained several degrees of life-threatening injuries after chasing and knocking down an antelope which they intended to go prepare for consumption. According to reports, the two were headed for Akwatia late night and saw the antelope crossing the main road. With the rider’s love for bushmeat, he increased the rate at which he was accelerating just so he could knock down the antelope. Although he achieved his target of knocking down the antelope, the motor is said to have somersaulted several times. The victims were rushed to the St. Dominic Hospital in Akwatia by some good Samaritans who saw them.

The rider of the bike died on the spot while the pillion died later at St. Dominics hospital at Akwatia. According to the Lower West Akyem Municipal Director of the National Disaster Management Organization, NADMO, Kwasi Addo Annor, the 46-year-old driver of the Kia truck, Asi Agyei, attempted to run away but was apprehended by Police at Asamankese and currently in Police custody assisting with investigation. Meanwhile, in a separate development, a motorcyclist and his pillion are in critical condition after chasing and knocking down an antelope found crossing the Osenase Cemetery road.
