Judge dismisses Antrim County lawsuit that fueled Trump voter conspiracies

Election experts  and Guy herself blamed “human error,” saying she failed to properly update software on tabulator machines after a late change to ballots in two local precincts. Guy’s office later re-tabulated the ballots, correcting the error, and a hand recount largely confirmed results certified by county and state officials. But plaintiff Bill Bailey, a local resident, and attorney Matthew DePerno spent months alleging something more sinister. In litigation, they claimed initial reporting errors were the result of “technical manipulation” of Dominion voting machines.  Dominion has filed billion dollar defamation lawsuits against several Trump loyalists, including attorneys Sidney Powell, Rudy Giuliani and businessman Mike Lindell, who has featured DePerno in his online video series alleging a global conspiracy to rig the election.

Fox News files motion to dismiss Dominion lawsuit

Fox News Media on Tuesday filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit filed against it by Dominion Voting Systems over the network’s coverage of claims of election irregularities during the 2020 presidential race.  The motion hinged on the argument that Fox News did not invent the claims Dominion faced over alleged issues with its machines and was merely reporting on the remarks. Dominion has claimed that Fox News, through extensive coverage and guest interviews with former President Trump “When a sitting President of the United States and his legal team challenge a presidential election in litigation throughout the nation, the media can truthfully report and comment on those allegations under the First Amendment without fear of liability. Plaintiffs’ defamation lawsuit against Fox News threatens to stifle the media’s free-speech right to inform the public about newsworthy allegations of paramount public concern,” Fox’s attorneys wrote.

Giuliani admits telling Capitol rioters to engage in trial by combat but insists it was hyperbole

Don t show me this message again✕ Lawyers representing former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani – who also worked as Donald Trump s personal attorney – are arguing that he did not literally call for trial by combat on the day of the Capitol riot, despite using those exact words. The attorneys made the argument in response to Congressman Eric Swalwell s lawsuit aimed at holding Mr Giuliani, Mr Trump, and other high profile Republicans accountable for inciting the insurrection on 6 January. In a court filing on Monday, the former mayor wrote that his words were meant to be hyperbolic, and placed the blame for the violent riot at the feet of pro-Trump extremist groups with which he had no involvement.
