With the Andhra Pradesh High Court dismissing the pleas for cancellation of the Tirupati Lok Sabha byelection on the charges of rigging by the ruling YSRCP, the stage is set for the counting of votes on Sunday.
Polling was held on April 17 for the byelection to the Tirupati Lok Sabha (SC) reserved constituency.

Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday asked the state government to reconsider its decision to conduct 2021 board examinations for Class 10 and 12 students.
With several petitions seeking cancellation of the board exams on account of spiralling Covid cases being filed, the court heard the matter on Friday, and directed the state government to submit an affidavit by May 3, the date fixed for the next hearing.
The intermediate or Class 12 board exams are scheduled to commence from May 5, while the Class 10 board examinations are to begin on June 14.

A Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and M. Ganga Rao, on Friday dismissed the writ petitions filed by K. Ratna Prabha and Panabaka Lakshmi seeking cancellation of the byelection conducted to the Tirupati (SC) Lok Sabha constituency on April 17.
The court observed that as per Article 226 of the Constitution, it cannot interfere with the conclusion of the election process, and being the competent election tribunal for the purposes of deciding election disputes to Parliament and Assembly constituencies under the Representation of People (RP) Act, it can examine evidence like a civil court and come to a conclusion after trial.
AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party senior leader and Sangam Dairy chairman Dhulipalla Narendra Kumar faced a setback in the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday, when it struck down his quash petition.
