Andhra proposes names of 3 officers for state EC By IANS|   Updated: 29th January 2021 2:04 pm IST Amaravati, Jan 29 : Andhra Pradesh State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is expected to take a call on a panel of three IAS officers proposed by the state government for the role of secretary in the State Election Commission. “I furnish the following names of IAS officers to select one of them to be appointed as secretary to the state election commission as desired,” said Chief Secretary Aditya Nath Das. He proposed the names of G. Vijay Kumar, a 2001 batch IAS officer, K. Kanna Babu (2006) and P. Raja Babu (2013).

SEC Kumar stated that the 2021 electoral rolls have not been ready due to the negligence of Panchayat Raj department officials and 3.61 lakh young voters have lost their voting rights. The SEC in a letter to the state Chief Secretary Adityanath Das mentioned that Gopala Krishna Dwivedi, the Principal Secretary and M Girija Shankar, Commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department of Government of Andhra Pradesh have failed to fulfil their responsibilities and their act of violation of rules should be noted in their service records.

The Andhra SEC on Saturday notified the schedule for four phase rural local body elections whose nomination process would begin in the next two days. The employee drew attention to the special care Kumar took while addressing the media earlier on Saturday. He had fixed a glass partition on his table and wore a mask to protect himself from the virus.

AP election commissioner writes to chief secy, DGP for removing 9 officers from poll process ANI | Updated: Jan 23, 2021 07:18 IST Amaravati (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 23 (ANI): Andhra PradeshState Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar has written a letter to state Chief Secretary Adityanath Das and DGP Gautam Sawang for removing nine officers from election duties. Those officers include collectors of Guntur and Chittoor districts; Tirupati Urban SP; DSPs of Palamaneru and Srikalahasti both towns in Chittoor district; and Circle Inspectors of Macherla, Punganur, Rayadurgam and Tadipatri. After the decks are cleared to hold elections now, the Commission had reviewed the situation and again requested the Chief Secretary to give effect to the Commission s earlier directions vide the second reference read above. A response did not emanate from the government as was desired, SEC stated.
